COURSE ONE: Competency Enhancement for Quality-Assured Teaching-Learning Process for 21st Century Nurse Educators (ACTIVE)
PART 1: INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN AND TEACHNING METHODOLOGIES FOR QUALITY ASSURED NURSING EDUCATION & PART 2: IMPLEMENTING BLENDED LEARNING COURSES FOR QUALITY NURSING EDUCATION
Background
Addressing the capacity gap in the preparation of teaching staff in higher education institutions offering nursing for 21st-century learners has become urgent. The 21st century’s technological advancements and shift to smart education have created a pressing need to enhance teacher capacity for effective learning facilitation.

There are urgent needs for faculty development programmes, mentorship initiatives, pedagogical training, technology integration support and collaborative partnerships. This course aims to bridge the capacity gap, empowering educators to meet the needs of modern learners. To meet these needs NAUNP is investing in faculty development programmes, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration, leveraging in technology for education and fostering on international partnerships. Implementing this course will enhance teacher capacity, facilitate effective technology integration and improved learner engagement and outcomes in the undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programmes in Nigeria.

The first part consists of seven modules covering instructional design and teaching methodologies. The second part covers development and implementation of blended learning courses with experiences of efficiently using digital tools in completing courses actively running with students and moderated by participants in the training.
Every module has specific objectives, contents with accompanied deliverables for the attainment of specific competencies. The course has presentations from experts using multimedia platforms and such are accompanied by individual, group activities and practice sessions that enable participants begin to apply lessons learnt to their teaching-learning obligations in reality. These also enable participants to harvest the deliverables. Such deliverables in the personal portfolio of participants cumulate in achieving the learning objectives by modules and the learning outcomes for the course.
